Morning ladies today I bring you a guest post by Jackie Clark who does outreach for the the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance. This is a resource center for women who have mesothelioma cancer.

Fashion: A Way to Feel Beautiful

By: Jackie Clark
Slipping on a beautiful garment is an easy way to instantly feel good about yourself. There is nothing like a well-cut jacket or a gorgeous pair of boots to instill self-confidence and an aura of beauty in the wearer. No matter what you may be facing in life, it is important to remember not to neglect this simple pleasure. Women facing a difficult cancer prognosis, fashion might not be their top priorities. While fashion should not be the number one priority in your life if you are facing cancer, it can be a way to empower yourself and gain a positive attitude.

The small things in life are vitally important when undergoing treatment for a cancer such as mesothelioma. You need people, places, and things to surround you with beauty, kindness and love. Wearing a dress made from luxurious silk might seem out of place, but if it looks good on you, it will have the impact of making you feel wonderful. Attitude is an important part of treatment and should not be overlooked or underscored.
It is important to find fashionable clothing items that make you feel great about the way that you look. This does not have to be a difficult or time-consuming task. Choose items in your favorite colors and styles. Ask your friends and family for advice and help. You can find items on sale, in thrift stores, or online if your budget is an issue.
The fabrics and materials that you choose play an important role in making you feel good about the clothes that you wear. Soft and luxurious fabrics are preferable to stiff, itchy substances. Wrap yourself in a fuzzy mohair cardigan if you are chilly instead of an old wool sweater. Try on bright and pastel colors that make you feel feminine and pretty instead of dull blacks, browns, and tans. The colors and fabrics that you decide to wear have an impact on your mood, and can easily lift you from feeling bad to feeling amazing.

Try to find fashionable clothes and shoes that have details that make you smile. For example, a silky blouse with little pleats or tucks in the shoulders, a cardigan with pretty beading, or knee-high boots with adorable little buckles. Even if sometimes you feel like wearing sweat pants and forgetting about looking nice, doing this will have an impact on the way you perceive yourself. If you are feeling good, it helps to make other people around you feel good too. Don't be afraid to ask others for help with this venture, particularly if you don't know very much about fashion. A helpful sales person at a store would be more than happy to give you advice, as would your friends and family members.

  2. What a great post & I totally agree. It doesn't have to be something that is designer or a lot of money. If you are wearing a certain piece that makes you feel beautiful you will have a beautiful attitude all day.
