OOTN: Summer Girly Floral

As an addendum to my Phoenix Fashion Week post here is my outfit of the night. I must confess to you that I (did) not own any girly floral dresses at all and especially have not gone out in the evening wearing one. In the past I always thought that these were more appropriate for summer and casual days.

This season has changed my old mentality as I have seen florals be incorporated with striped, repeated patterns, and even lace which permitted my mind to believe that EVEN I could try this out and look presentable! Yes I know I am childish for being afraid of all over floral but  I  am short and have some curves that I was afraid prints would add more bulk to my frame. Then comes this lil dress I saw that was very light and cool fabric a score in this heat and once tried on was not bulky either (another score). I decided to kick up the look of the dress more by taking off the original brown belt it came with and put in my leopard belt gasp! ah risky move but made me feel better. I got so many compliments on the mixed prints and ended up happy with the results.

What prints do you ladies mix or have mixed? Do you think there are any rules to mixing prints?
